What We Do

We have a weekly meeting, which everyone is welcome to:

Mondays are our main events, and we meet in the Faith and Reflection Centre and we start at 8pm (until about 9/9:30pm). We will have an informal chat, with tea and cake, in the upstairs room for about half an hour, before we begin our discussion, usually focusing on the Bible, or aspects of Christian faith. These discussions can be led by fellow students, Faith Advisors or Chaplains associated with the University, or guest speakers. Everyone is welcome, of all faiths and none, and we aim to actively create a safe space for everyone to be comfortable.

We also have other events, that occur less frequently:

On the second Sunday of the month we go to New Song Cafe, which is a lively worship session filled with lots of people from a wide variety of churches around Southampton. The bands are always great, and play mostly modern Christian songs. The evening starts at 7.00pm, and finishes at 9.00pm, with a break for tea and cake in the middle. A group of us travel down together, either by public transport or lift-sharing, so please make yourself known if you want to join us!

One of our main priorities as a society is seeking justice, and as a result we like to get involved with various charities, both fundraising for them and joining any protests or activism they may be organising. Over the past couple of years our members have been involved with a wide variety of protests, from marches against Donald Trump’s visit to the UK, to attending the Pride Parade with SUSU, and some of our members went to the ‘The Time Is Now’ climate change protest in London. We also actively support our lecturers and UCU members who take industrial action.
